This season is ending the way it started – Sand Valley Golf Resort is now officially ranked as a TOP100 Golf Resorts in Continental Europe by Golf World UK. This follows the earlier 2018 Rankings as Nr.1 golf course in Poland by both Golf Digest and top100golfcourses.com.

“Poland is a relative newcomer to the world of golf tourism and, as such, has yet to shrug off all of the preconceptions associated with being a former Eastern Bloc country. Is Sand Valley Europe’s Friendliest Golf Course?

This is what we’ve been hearing from our visitors from Scandinavia for some time now and I started to think why is it so? Pretty quickly I understood that it’s probably the “fourth pillar of a perfect golf holiday” – a mantra-like thing that I have been telling to my team and our visitors for years in an effort to explain how a Golf Resort should work and what are the most important things for our clients. I thought I would tell you about those four Pillar’s and especially about the last one – the one that I believe has earned us the nickname as the Friendliest Golf Course in Europe.

Firstly and foremostly it’s all about golf. Our course is a world class venue, currently ranked 82 in Continental Europe by Golf World and we thrive to maintain it so. It is challenging, but less so after the first round – in fact, you should never play Sand Valley only once, because the first round is just a warm-up for the fun that is just around the corner. Our course is also the reason for the fact that average visitor plays five rounds in Sand Valley and often comes back for more!

Secondly, it’s about the accommodation. Nothing quite compares to our onsite villas with private pool’s, saunas and the simple yet elegant Scandinavian design. It’s luxury without opulence and convenience just a few feet’s away from the clubhouse at the heart of Sand Valley GR. It also takes our visitors seriously – why give a second-rate shed, when you can provide a haven for late night interactions with family and friends.

2018 started off with amazing news, as two of the major global golf institutions rated Sand Valley as the best golf course in Poland. This follows the last years rating from Golf World UK, where Sand Valley GR got to the TOP100 in Continental Europe – placed at 82nd as a New Entry.

The accolade comes in the highly competitive field of almost 5000 golf courses from around Europe. And cements Sand Valley’s place as Poland’s flagship course & Golf Resort.

Last weekend in Sand Valley belonged not only to golfers but also to automotive fans. On Saturday, about 110 tuning cars arrived on the golf course, on Sunday – retro cars and WRC cars, which were checked by Szymon Ruta, one of the famous Polish rally drivers, participant in the Dakar Rally in 2013.

This is the second edition of the event, which co-founder is Antti Pohjonen, chairman of the board of Sand Valley, who can talk endlessly about his two biggest passions: golf and cars.

– In Poland very small amount of the people in regards to the population plays golf. As an example, in Finland, when you fill a bus with 50 people, one of them plays golf. In Poland you would have to fill the National Stadium and then you will find one person that plays golf. There are only 4000 golfers in Poland. I want to change that – says Antti Pohjonen. “And that’s such a cool sport,” he assured. First of all, physical activity in the open air, because one round of golf is 11 km. But you must also use the head – the reserve. – Golf is also a social sport. You can have a full round, which is about 5 hours spent with your wife, with children, with a colleague. And you’re turning off Facebook, from what’s in your life too fast. And it’s not just sports for the rich – assures Antti Pohjonen, and adds: “My second love is cars, so the idea was Golf & Cars. The first day was a golf tournament with 72 participants. At the same time – continues – we were doing a tuning event. About 110 cars arrived. It’s the excitement for young people.

Sunday – it was time for the presentation of classic cars – about 60 classic cars arrived. First and foremost, it was the time of emotion that has been provided by Szymon Ruta, the rally driver and his WRC car. The lucky ones could watch the tour from the pilot’s seat. There was adrenaline, sand dents, sharp bends. “This is what big boys love the most – a statement that fully summarizes the weekend at the golf course at Pasłęk.
