Continental Europe’s Top 100 Courses 2020 by National Club Golfer
The most authoritative list by the most widely travelled panel ranked Sand Valley at 69 place!
Panellist view: Firm, fast-running heathland-like golf and very funky greens – a terrific experience. We love the width that Tilander created and the options they offer. Greens verging on a little too funky but deserves this good slot nonetheless. We loved the variety of the start, even if those eccentric greens are startlingly evident on the first short hole.
Some fine two-shotters characterise the front nine and the 8th plays as a double dog-leg par 5.
It begins between the 10th and 11th holes and if you can drive it on the fairway and close to the sand valley, you can go for the green with your second. On the large green, the pin position is of great importance.
After the downhill par 3 that begins the back nine you then continue along the tree-lined journey with a long par 4 which has a bunker in the middle of the fairway that must be avoided if you have a chance of going for the green in two.
It ends with two holes in opposite directions. First comes a long uphill par 3, a gorgeous hole with old birches on the left, providing a unique atmosphere, then a mid-length two-shotter that offers the chance of a nice finish.
